Speeding Up An Old Computer
Andy • February 11, 2025
it_supportToday I went to see an old chap who wanted me to help make an old(ish) computer run better. It was an All-In-One Lenova desktop which was a rather nice machine. He spoke about getting a new computer, but the easiest way I know to make a computer faster, is it increase the memory (RAM)
Many older computers become a lot quicker with a relatively easy RAM upgrade. RAM (Random Access Memory) is a type of computer memory that provides short-term data storage. It is where your computer stores data that the processor needs to run applications and open files. RAM is also referred to as computer memory or PC memory and there is a number of types of RAM, so it is important to get the right type.
This gents computer only had the factory default 4 gigabytes install, which isnt a lot when running a memory hungrey operating system like Microsoft Windows. His computer had 2 slots for RAM memory and it was rather easy to open the back of the machine and install a second 4gb ram module. It had space for 2 8 gigabyte ram modules, so i have ordered him 2 more which i will install next week.
If you would like to discuss upgrading the memory on your machine, please call me on 07970 807930.
